DRY DETOXIFICATION SYSTEM
Spill-CAT
Developed by former Ministry of Defence scientists, Spill-CAT is a next-generation dry detoxification system that rapidly immobilises and safely neutralises toxic chemicals, using up to 10× less material.
Engineered for operational environments, it enables effective containment through direct application or deployment with compatible delivery systems, requiring no mixing or additives.

TARGETED & UNIVERSAL FORMULATIONS
Optimised for Known & Unknown Threats
Three agent-specific formulations deliver optimum performance against known threats, with a universal formulation providing effective neutralisation when agent identification is uncertain.

Tested & Verified
Independently
Every formulation has been tested and verified against live chemical agents by accredited independent and government laboratories to confirm its real-world performance against the most toxic liquid threats.
Detailed test data, methodologies, and verified results are available for review, providing full transparency on performance across tested agents.

1 | Respond
Stable
Spill-CAT’s catalytic, temperature-resilient chemistry allows safe long-term storage without degradation — ensuring readiness in the field, laboratory, or warehouse.
Portable
Its lightweight, dry formulation is easy to transport and deploy in any environment — as little as 2 kg neutralises 1 kg of agent.

2 | Deploy
Simple Deployment
Its coarse dry-powder formulation requires minimal training, with no mixing and no additives such as water or oxygen, enabling rapid containment through direct application or with compatible delivery systems.
Safe to Handle
Formulated without corrosive ingredients or heavy metals, Spill-CAT is safe to handle with minimal PPE.

3 | Dispose
Proven Detoxification
Independently verified in live-agent testing, Spill-CAT neutralises the most toxic chemical threats in a controlled manner with no off-gasing.
Easy Disposal
After neutralisation, residues are fully contained to prevent environmental dispersal and can be safely incinerated or disposed of via standard hazmat waste streams.
OPERATION READY
Designed for Every Phase of Detoxification
Spill-CAT is engineered for reliability and safety in real-world conditions — balancing performance, operator protection, and environmental responsibility from storage through to final disposal. Each element has been tested to simplify response, protect operators, and eliminate secondary hazards.

Chemical Weapon Payloads
For operational use on military bases and in the field, Spill-CAT absorbs and neutralises a wide range of chemical warfare agents quickly and safely — enabling rapid decontamination of equipment, surfaces, and containment areas.
Designed to integrate with existing CBRN response workflows, Spill-CAT reduces responder exposure, prevents secondary contamination, and simplifies disposal and site handover.
NEUTRALISATION IN THE FIELD
For Deployment across Defence, Industry & Emergency Response
Spill-CAT delivers reliable chemical neutralisation wherever toxic hazards demand rapid, ruggedised, field-ready response.

DELIVERY FORMATS
Tailored Systems for Chemical Weapon Neutralisation
Purpose-built to work with specialist extraction and transfer systems, Spill-CAT’s delivery formats offer compact mobility for field response, and robust capacity for large-scale neutralisation and disposal.
The active ingredients of Spill-CAT are an inorganic catalyst and an organic nucleophile that irreversibly react with the chemical agent leaving detoxified byproducts.
To prolong the shelf life of the powder mixes and aid absorption and dispersal of the agent throughout the powder mix, various additives have been included in the formulations. These function as desiccants, antioxidants, acid scavengers, and anti-caking agents. They are stable and non-toxic.
Furthermore, as the powders are designed to degrade the chemical agents in a controlled manner (although an exotherm is possible as reaction rates are proportional to temperature), an absorbent has been included to rapidly immobilise the liquid chemicals into a ‘solid’ matrix, while the active components get to work degrading the agent. The absorbent is a cellulose-based granular powder and is non-toxic.
Spill-CAT formulations vary depending on the class of target chemical agent. End users can select formulations based on expected threat profiles—for example, European users managing abandoned chemical weapons with known payloads may choose agent-specific formulations, while the Universal formulation offers broader applicability and remains at an earlier stage of testing.
Yes. The coarse dry powder is pre-formulated and active as supplied. Spill-CAT can be applied directly from 3 kg bags by pouring onto the target, without the need for any delivery system or mixing with water or additives. This eliminates preparation time, reduces equipment dependency, and removes common failure points associated with mixed or activated neutralisation systems.
Spill-CAT is designed to gently destroy agent without generating excessive heat. As a result, the formulation works in a two-step process to first rapidly adsorb the agent, then to more slowly destroy it. Depending on agent and ambient temperature, the process is complete in 8 hours to 7 days.
The reaction with some agents (particularly CEES and Lewisites) can be exothermic, and, in some cases small quantities of gases can be evolved; however, the chemical process does not liberate acid gases. The chlorides and fluorides are trapped in the solid matrix as salts.
As a precaution, the Kill Bag and Kill Drum delivery systems are fitted with standard DIN40 CBRN rated filter canisters to remove any hazardous vapours. It is also expected that operators will be wearing PPE.
Depending on the agent destroyed, the end product is a dry solid or near solid powder. This can be fed into existing incineration facilities directly, or standard hazmat waste streams (depending on territory).
It should be remembered that Kill Bags and Kill Drums may have very low levels of residual contamination in and/or around the entry port.
